New Photos Available for Beautiful Surrey Farm House

We are very happy with the new photographs of this beautiful Surrey farm house which are now live on our website.

Although the existing house was located in a prominent location with stunning views over the north Downs, the existing stark 1950’s ‘stockbroker’ Tudor farm house did not do the site justice, either in its external appearance or internal layout and finish. The brief was to face-lift the exterior elevations, improve the internal layout and flow of the building, lighten and modernise the interior, extend and the replace the electrical and heating systems whilst still retaining a country farmhouse feel. As a result the interior was completely re-planned with new repositioned staircase, the formation of a new boot room, utility and laundry spaces within the existing building envelope and relocation of the kitchen/breakfast room and master bedroom into a new 2-storey extension.

The external façade was improved by removing the gloomy black stained ‘fake’ timbers and leaded light metal casement windows of the original house and introducing new brickwork plinth, painted render, traditional handmade tile hanging and new painted timber windows, and most importantly a traditionally detailed and constructed Oak framed ‘wallpaper’ over the central front gable.

Nye Saunders provided full architects services throughout all of the RIBA workstages.
