Planning Approval for New House, Farnham, Surrey

After negotiating a delicate path through the planning process, Nye Saunders are thrilled for our client following the granting of planning permission on appeal for a new house in the rear grounds of their Surrey property.

Nye Saunders’ initial contemporary design took advantage of the steeply sloping site and gained the approval of the Planning Officer, but permission was refused by the Waverley Borough Council planning committee.

To address the concerns raised by the planning committee we prepared a more traditional looking design which again gained the approval of the Planning Officer, but was also refused by the planning committee.

Working with D&M Planning of Godalming, an appeal was lodged with the Planning Inspectorate for both schemes. The inspector approved both designs, commenting that the designs were of high quality and responsive to the character of the local area and site.

Although planning permission was hard won, it was well worth the struggle as our client now has the choice of building their new home with either a stunning, contemporary design or a beautiful traditional one.
