Number 4 - Convert a Barn or Other Building
If you are not in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or National Park, then find a barn or former barn that can be converted into a dwelling 👍.
⚠ It needs walls and to be capable of conversion (open pole barns are not likely to meet the criteria) to qualify as permitted development.
Some other buildings, 🏢 offices for example, can also be converted under permitted development.
In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or National Park, planning consent will be required and considerations such as remoteness and sustainability will come into play – the more remote, the more challenging the permission process.
