 Say Hello to Richard Sloman 👋

Richard is the owner and principal of Nye Saunders Ltd, Chartered Architects, having joined the company in 1999, just before qualifying as an architect. 

With a wealth of experience under his belt, and a passion and expertise for navigating the complexities of the planning system, Richard has secured numerous planning consents for sites often considered unviable. 

Richard has expert knowledge of, and an appreciation for, historic buildings and the intricacies and potential pitfalls dealing with Listed Buildings can bring.  

Richard also has considerable experience and a long track record of success with residential projects, be they stunning bespoke new houses, extensive refurbishment of large existing properties or boutique developer housing.  

Richard has a passion for problem-solving in his role as an architect.  He places great emphasis on identifying and understanding a clients’ needs, taking the time to undertake a comprehensive briefing process and delivering outstanding design solutions that respond to both constraints and aspirations. 

Among Richard’s extensive portfolio of projects, notable examples are the extensive repair and transformation of Undershaw (the former residence of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) into a new site for Stepping Stones School for children with Special Educational Needs, and the conversion of a dilapidated pub in Dorking into an elegant complex of apartments, coach-houses and mews houses, together with the substantial extension and refurbishment of several listed country houses in the Surrey Hills.

When he is not working, Richard enjoys running, undertaking DIY projects and driving his classic cars.
