Watercolour by the late Richard Greening MSc, FRSA of Nye Saunders Architects
Over time many rural buildings lose the need for their original use and their owners look to breathe new life into them with a new purpose. Nye Saunders are delighted that one such client has recently been granted permission by Guildford Borough Council for a change of use of their barn near Guildford to a single detached family home.
The barn was located within the Green Belt and also within an Area of Great Landscape Value, but Nye Saunders’ high quality design successfully struck the right balance between seeking to optimise the re-use of an existing rural building and still fully respecting the character, setting and appearance of the area.
We look forward to seeing the new building take shape.
