Michael Staff, Director, Nye Saunders

Michael Staff

CONSULTANT

Mike’s interest in architecture was sparked when working as an office boy at Frederick Gibberd and Partners. Seeing how it focused on designing buildings that suit people’s and society’s needs opened his eyes to the potential for a career in architecture. He joined Nye Saunders in 1990, making him our longest-serving member of staff. In addition to being one of our directors, Mike is on the Register of Architects Accredited in Building Conservation.

Mike has a deep interest in heritage projects. As well as the historical interest associated with these projects, he loves the challenge of keeping old buildings alive by making them relevant to today’s needs and extending their usage. He is especially experienced in ecclesiastical projects, having worked on churches across London and the South East.

Despite being local to the Godalming and Guildford area, Mike is now based in Devon where he conducts most of his work, interspersed with site visits to his various projects. Devon is the perfect spot for Mike’s weekend walks, which he fits around his other great passion – sport. He loves cricket, football and rugby and is a loyal LUFC supporter.
